Information for you to understand prior to tuning.

ECU tuning increases engine performance of the vehicle beyond the manufacturers intended use.
Engine/drivetrain and/or ancillary component failure may occur as a result of additional performance.
ECU tuning may void any warranty in place. If in doubt, seek clarification from the warranty provider.
Unicorn Motor Developments Ltd does not supply any form of guarantee of warranty when carrying out its services.

Tuning is Complex:

Vehicle tuning is not always straightforward, and despite our best efforts, unexpected challenges can arise. Even with careful planning and extensive experience, sometimes things don’t go exactly as intended. It’s important to understand and accept this as part of the tuning process.
You should consider the consequences of any potential failure before requesting any tuning
In the case of Stage 3 tuning with larger than factory turbo, component failure is likely and we do not recommend such vehicles are relied upon for daily duties

Unicorn Motor Developments Ltd are not responsible for the costs of diagnosing and/or rectifying faults on your vehicle that become apparent before, during or after the ECU tuning process

Our Responsibilities

We will perform a sound and vision check of your vehicle as it is driven onto and secured in our dyno cell.  This is not a comprehensive check and should we have any concerns we will notify you immediately.

Once on the dyno, your vehicle will be run on the dyno in order to obtain a baseline power figure and to determine whether it is performing as expected.   Note that his cannot be done on highly modified vehicles where the current software is unsuitable.  In this case we will load a base calibration and go from there.

Unicorn Motor Developments have considerable experience in ECU calibration and increasing the performance and efficiency of vehicles.  Tuning is not black magic and relies on well understood scientific and engineering principles. Throughout the tuning process, multiple test measurements and data logs are taken to continually monitor the state of the vehicle.  It is these measurements that allow us to make changes to the calibration and improve performance.  If our data suggests any abnormal behaviour, we ill inform you immediately. We will tune your vehicle taking into account any specific requests you may have.  The goal is not to extract as much power from the vehicle as possible, but do so in such a way that it performs repeatedly and as reliably as possible,

Your Responsibilities

Prior to tuning, your vehicle should be in in an A1 state of mechanical condition.  By definition, tuning is possible when all components are in 100% working order.  Tuning when the vehicle has either worn or damaged parts will only make things worse. Running your vehicle on the dyno works it to its maximum capacity, so tyre pressures, condition and all fluid levels should be checked on the day prior to tuning.

If your vehicle cannot be tuned at the time of your appointment due to an issue with your vehicle you will still be charged.  Any future appointment will also be chargeable.

Please note, at our dyno cell we have very limited mechanical capabilities. focusing instead on test measurement and calibration.

The decision to tune your vehicle lies solely with the customer.
